ITEM EXPLANATION At its meeting of Tuesday, May 18, 1993, the City considered a large number of applications for the Commission and determined that nine applicants should be ap and that the Housing Commission ordinance should be ame: establish a nine member Commission which would better se needs of the community. In addition, existing sections municipal code specify that appointments to any City commission or committee require the applicant to be a resi the City and a registered voter. NS-242 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA AMENDING TITLE 2, CHAPTER 2.40 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING SECTIONS 2.40.020 AND 2.40.030 ESTABLISHING A NINE MEMBER HOUSING COMMISSION AND ESTABLISHING QUALIFICATIONS FOR ITS MEMBERS. WHEREAS, the city Council determined at its me May 18, 1993 that the City's needs could best be fulfil nine member Housing Commission rather than a seven membex Commission; and WHEREAS, Carlsbad Municipal Code Section establishes uniform requirements for qualifications appointment to any City board, commission or committee applicant be a resident of the City of Carlsbad and a re voter, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of C does ordain as follows: SECTION I: That Title 2, Chapter 2.40 of the Municipal Code is amended by the amendment of Section 2.4 read as follows: "2.40.020 Membership The Housing Commission shall consist of nine (9) The members shall be appointed by the.mayor and confirmed City Council. In addi' (2) members of the Housing Commission shall be tenants as the Carlsbad Housing Authority, one (1) of which shall be 62 years of age. One (1) member shall be a member of the Commission.
