PCH C\TY M( 0 0 ir: 3 4 2 s b a $ 9 2 3 0 0 RECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. 93- 119% , awarding the b firefighting wear for the period July 1 , 1993 through June 30, 1994, with the option to each contract for three (3) additional one (1) year periods. ITEM EXPLANATION The City of Carlsbad has been the lead agency in the cooperative bids for firefis protective clothing for several years. Recently, changes have been made in the specific for turnout suspenders, firefighting gloves and knitted sock hoods with drape. Fire hc have been tested and are on the Qualified Products list. Due to the changes in specific and the establishment of the helmets on the Qualified Products list, it was necessary out to bid for these items. In order to take advantage of purchasing in volume for fifty six public agencies, proposal for annual usage for the suspenders, gloves, hoods and helmets was deve In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Muncipal Code, Notice to Bidders was put and Request for Bids was sent to fourteen vendors. Ten bids were opened, witnessec recorded on April 22, 1993. Following evaluation by the North County Fire Equil Committee’s representatives and Purchasing staff, recommendations for the bid awai as follows: (1) The lowest, most responsive bid for the Fire Fighting Glove, Structuri Fighting Helmet (Cairns & Bro classic IOOOR), Structural Fire Fighting k (Cairns & Bro 662CR Metro), Structural Fire Fighting Helmet (Cairns & Brc Phoenix), PBI Knitted Sock Hood with Drape, and Nomex Knitted Sock with Drape was submitted by L N Curtis & Sons, 1800 Peralta Street, 0: The lowest, most responsive bid for the Structural Fire Fighting Helme Bullard Firedome II) and the Structural Fire Fighting Helmet (E D E Firedome FX was submitted by Wajax Pacific Fire Equipment, P 0 Box 8 Seattle WA 98138. The City of Carlsbad's Fire DepE anticipates spending approximately $3,000 for this firefighting wear this fiscal year. funds are available in the Fire Department's Fire Suppression Special Supplies Accol 001 -820-2220-2260. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. 2. That the above facts are true and correct.
