RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. 93- 119% , awarding the b
firefighting wear for the period July 1 , 1993 through June 30, 1994, with the option to
each contract for three (3) additional one (1) year periods.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The City of Carlsbad has been the lead agency in the cooperative bids for firefis
protective clothing for several years. Recently, changes have been made in the specific
for turnout suspenders, firefighting gloves and knitted sock hoods with drape. Fire hc
have been tested and are on the Qualified Products list. Due to the changes in specific
and the establishment of the helmets on the Qualified Products list, it was necessary
out to bid for these items.
In order to take advantage of purchasing in volume for fifty six public agencies,
proposal for annual usage for the suspenders, gloves, hoods and helmets was deve

FISCAL IMPACT
Each of the public agencies that participate in the cooperative purchase will plac
respective order(s) with the selected vendors. The City of Carlsbad's Fire DepE
anticipates spending approximately $3,000 for this firefighting wear this fiscal year.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE
OF FIREFIGHTER'S HELMETS, HOODS, GLOVES AND
SUSPENDERS
WHEREAS, it is advantageous to the City to join other agencies
purchase of firefighter's wear; and
WHEREAS, bid proposals were submitted by fourteen vendors and
against known criteria.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
Carlsbad, California, as follows:

That the bid for Items 1,3,4,5,8, and 9 as shown on Exhibit
