ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. NS-243 -- AMENDING DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS FOR

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. NS-243, amending various chapters in Title 21 of the Carlsbad
Munincipal Code to amend the development standards for accessory structures in the
residential zones of the city.
ITEM FXPLaANATION
Ordinance No. NS-243 was introduced at the regular City Council meeting of June 15,
1993. The second reading allows Council to adopt the ordinance which would then
become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance published in the
“Carlsbad Sun” within fifteen days, if adopted.

The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,

SECTION 1: That Title 21, Chapter 21.04 of the Carlsbad
funicipal Code is amended by the addition of Section 21.04.306 to
read as follows:
Snace or Structure. . Habita ble. "Habitable Space or Structure" means any space in a structure for living, sleeping, eating or cooking."
SECTION 2: That Title 21, Chapter 21.08, Section
!1.08.050 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended by the
amendment of Subsection (l)(D) to read as follows:

(D)(i) All accessory structures shall comply with the hollowing development standards:
(a) The lot coverage shall include accessory structures in the lot coverage calculations for the lot; (b) The distance between buildings used for human labitation and accessory buildings shall be not less than 10 feet;
