RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. Y3-202for City Council to authorize the City Manager to apl
a contract change order to chip seal and re-stripe a portion of Camino De Los COC
ITEM EXPLANATION:
At the meeting of June 22, 1993, the City Council upheld an appeal to provide on-
parking on a portion of Camino De Los Coches. The parking would be provided bel
the westerly parking lot serving Stagecoach Park and continue easterly to Via Cale
To provide on-street parking, the existing striping must be removed and replaced 1
new striping configuration that permits on-street parking. The City Council directec
to remove the existing striping via a chip seal on the roadway and then stripe the ne\
configurations that would permit on-street parking.
The Utilities and Maintenance Department has a contract with I.P.S. Services, Inc., c
Bernardino, in the amount of $289,371.89 to perform the 1992-1 993 Street Chip
Program of various streets in Carlsbad. A change order to this contract can be issu
the Utilities and Maintenance Department to have the contractor perform the necc
work on Camino De Los Coches.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimated cost of the change order to chip seal and re-stripe the referenced lir
Camino De Los Coches is $20,000. Adequate funds are available in the Gas Tax
Balance for the change order.

RESOLUTION NO. 93 -202
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 TO THE 1992-1 993
STREET CHIP SEAL PROGRAM, CONTRACT NO. U/M 93-2 TO CHIP
SEAL AND RE-STRIPE A PORTION OF CAMINO DE LOS COCHES
WHEREAS, bids were received by the City of Carlsbad, California, for the 1992-1 9
Chip Seal Program in accordance with Contract No. U/M 93-2; and
WHEREAS, the lowest, responsive bidder for the project was I.P.S. Services, Inc
Bernardino, California; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to create additional parking at Stagecoach
permitting on-street parking between the westerly parking lot of Stagecoach Park
Calendo; and
WHEREAS, a chip seal of the roadway and re-striping will extend the service 11
roadway and also permit on-street parking to occur; and
WHEREAS, a change order is necessary to be issued to accomplish the desir
and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the Gas Tax Fund Balance for completion of thc
order.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of C
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
