Though it hdS occasionally been controversial, I remain convinced that the City’s Arts Program should be sustained and expanded. Promotion of the arts -- alc with the Library -- are two of the most effective ways that tht City can truly distinguish itself. Accordingly I urge you to continue to give your support not only t3 the budget of the Art Office but also to the program(s) and accivities which they initiate. Unfortunately due to 2ersonal circumstances, I find that I wil: be unable to fulfill ;ny responsibilities as an Arts Commissionc for the remainder of my term. BE1 Electronics, my employer, hi promoted me to a new position at their b3adquarters. While Jackie and I plan to retain our home in Zarlsbad and to be herc fairly often, my offix and base of operations will be in San Francisco which will make regular attendance at the Commission meetings impossible.
