RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. q3-3ACi appropriating funds from the Police Forfeiture Fund fol
the support of Crime Stoppers.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City of Carlsbad receives forfeited funds and assets periodically as a result of tk
Police Department’s narcotics enforcement efforts. These funds are restricted by
statute for use by the Police Department only and cannot be used to supplant existir
future police budgets.
Crime Stoppers, Inc. is a California non-profit benefit corporation which exists prim2
as a service to the community and as an aid to law enforcement in San Diego Coun
The recommended action will appropriate $5,000 of the fund for contribution to Crir
Stoppers, Inc.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City currently has an unappropriated balance of $1,500,000 in the Police Asse
Forfeiture Fund. The appropriation of $5,000 will leave a balance of $1,495,000. -
appropriation of these funds has no impact on the City General Fund.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA,
APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM THE POLICE
ASSET FORFEITURE FUND (FEDERAL) FOR THE
SUPPORT OF CRIMF STOPPERS. INC.
WHEREAS, from time to time, the City of Carlsbad Police Department receive
funds and assets resulting from he Police Department's drug enforcement activities;
WHEREAS, said funds should be utilized for law enforcement purposes and
supporting police activities; and
WHEREAS, the appropriation of said funds is necessary before any expenditu
funds can take place; and
WHEREAS, the Police Forfeiture Asset Fund has an available fund balance of
$1,500,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsb:
California, that the amount of $5,000 be hereby appropriated from the available ful
balance of the Police Asset Forfeiture Fund (Federal) to support Crime Stoppers, In
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City
day of DECEMBER, 1993, by the foltowing vote to Wit: Council held on the 14th
