BIDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE

ITEM EXPLANATION
Under the terms of the 1987 Master Aareement for the Enhancement of Ba
Laaoon, the City of Carlsbad is designated as the lead agency for the constru
the enhancement project. The project plans, specifications, and contract doc
have been completed, approved by both the Port of Los Angeles and the nt
Resource Agencies involved with the project, and are now ready for advertise
construction bids. In a letter dated December 14, 1993, the Port of Los Ang
requested the City proceed with the solicitation of the construction bids at tt

Lagoon Enhancement Project on August 14, 1990.
GENERAL PLAN CONSISTENCY
On July 18, 1990, the Carlsbad Planning Commission approved the EIR and
findings of project consistency with the City's General Plan.
FISCAL IMPACT
The design estimate for the construction of the Batiquitos Lagoon Enhanceme
is $35 million.

The cost of construction management, environmental monitoring and public r

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING THE ADVERTISEMENT
OF CONSTRUCTION BIDS FOR THE BATIQUITOS LAGOON
ENHANCEMENT PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has f
entered into a six-party agreement for the enhancement of Batiquitos Lag
agreement which designates the City as the lead agency for the construct
project; and
WHEREAS, the project plans, specifications, and contract documen
construction of said project are complete and are submitted herewith for r(
approval; and
WHEREAS, the City has previously entered into an agreement with t
Los Angeles, acting by and through its Board of Harbor Commissioners,
reimbursement of all project costs for said project from the Port of Los Angc
