RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council adopt Resolution No. 99-33 accepting a $4,185 donation from
Gerico’s Bar & Grill to benefit the Carlsbad Senior Center.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Since September 1987, Gerico’s Bar & Grill, 850TamarackAvenue in Carlsbad, has
sponsored an Annual Golf Tournament to benefit the Carlsbad Senior Center. Ir
1988, Gerico’s began sponsoring an annual fundraising dinner in conjunction witt
the golf tournament.
Gerico’s 7th Annual Carlsbad Senior Center Benefit Golf Tournament took place or
Saturday, September 18, 1993, at the Lomas Santa Fe Executive Golf Course.
Dinner tickets were available for a $5.00 donation and could be redeemed durin!
October for a meal at Gerico’s Restaurant or for $5.00 off a meal at KoKo Beact
Restaurant. All proceeds from the sale of dinner tickets were given to the Senio
This year the golf tournament and dinner raised $4,185, an increase of $517 ove
last year--bringing the total funds raised by Gerico’s/KoKo Beach since 1987 tr
$23,403. These funds have been placed in the Senior Citizen Trust Fund and ove
the years utilized to assist with the purchase of the mini bus, baby grand pianr
billiards tables and other equipment enjoyed by the many Seniors who participat
at the Center.
SENIOR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
At their meeting on November 4, 1993, the Senior Commission voted unanimous1
to recommend acceptance of $4,185 raised through the Gerico’s Bar & Grill 7t
Annual Carlsbad Senior Center Benefit Golf Tournament and Fundraising Dinne
The Senior Commission recommends that this donation be deposited into the Senic
Citizen Trust Fund and be utilized towards the purchase of special equipment at th
Senior Center.
FISCAL UMPACT:
The $4,1$5 donation has been deposited into the Senior Citizen Trust Fund Accou

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A
DONATION OF FOUR THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED
EIGHTY FIVE DOLLARS f4.185).
WHEREAS, Gerico’s Bar & Grill donated four thousand one
hundred eighty five dollars ($4,185) for special equipment at the Senior Center
and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept this gift;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of thc
City of Carlsbad as follows:
I. That the City Council accepts the donation of four thousand on
hundred eighty five dollars ($4,185) on behalf of the Seniors of the City (
Carlsbad.

This year the golf tournament and dinner ticket sales generated a total of
$4,185, an increase of $51 7 over last year.
That increase, in light of these economic times, speaks highly of this
community and particularly the three of you.
