RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Introduce Ordinance No. $5, -290 to establish a NO PARKING zone on each side of
Paseo del Norte from Poinsettia Lane southerly to the Sea Cliff entrance gate.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
At the January 11, 1994 City Council meeting, the City Council considered a request to establish on-street parking restrictions on Paseo del Node southerly of Poinsettia Lane to
the Sea Cliff gate, a distance of approximately 500 feet. Staff indicated to the City Council
that the Poinsettia Lane/l-5 Interchange Widening Project is scheduled to begin by
September 1994. That project will signalize the intersection of Poinsettia Lane and Paseo
del Norte. As a result, roadway striping will be installed on Paseo del Norte southerly of Poinsettia Lane to channelize the turning movements at the intersection. Once the striping is installed, there will not be sufficient width for on-street parking.
The City Council directed staff to return with documents to establish a NO PARKING zone as indicated above. The ordinance to establish the parking prohibition will become effective thirty (30) days after adoption, unless the City Council establishes an otherwise
indicated date.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Installing six (6) "NO PARKING ANYTIME" signs and posts will cost approximately $61 0.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10.40 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE REVISION OF SECTION 10.40.072 TO DECLARE
"NOPARKING ANYTIME" ON EACH SIDE OF PASEO DEL NORTE FROM .
POINSE-TTIA LANE SOUTHERLY TO THE SEA CLIFF ENTRANCE GATE.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1 : That Title IO, Chapter 10.40 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amendec
by the revision of Section 10.40.072 to read as follows:
"I 0.40.072. Parking Restricted on Paseo del Norte.
(a) There will be two-hour restricted parking on each side of Paseo del Norte
between the hours of eight a.m. and six p.m., Monday through Friday, with
holidays excepted, from Cannon Road to its intersection with Car Country Drive.
(b) There will be no parking on each side of Paseo del Norte from Poinsettia Lane
southerly to the Sea Cliff entrance gate."
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30)1 days after its adoption and
the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad, shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be
published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the
