RECOMMENDED ACTION:
LIB crTy LIBRARY
Adopt Resolution No. 9q-231 accepting a donation of $37,586 from the Friends oft
Library and directing an appropriate letter of thanks.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Friends of the Carlsbad Library have donated $37,586 to the library to be used i
support of children’s programs and for the purchase of the following items:
1. Library materials (books, books on tape, $23,000 children’s books, reference books.)
2. Computers, CD-ROM drives, software. $12,586
3. Tutor resources, software, dictionaries $ 2,000 for Adult Learning Program.

None.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CIT COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A GIFT OF
$37.586 FROM THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY.
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Carlsbad Library have donated $37,586 to tE
WHEREAS, the library and the Friends have agreed that this donation will

used in support of children’s programs and for the purchase of equipment and
library materials;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:

That the City Council accepts the gift of $37,586 from the Friends
the Library on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
