ITEM EXPLANATION One of the City Council’s goals for the Arts Office is to seek funding from other sources whe Beginning in January, The Arts Commission sought contributions from local corporations tc a Labor Day weekend concert, “Salute to America”. A total of $13,684 was raised for the concert. The following corporations contributed to the event: Americair of San Diego, Smit Nephew DonJoy, Inc., Longs Drug Stores, Hoehn Motors, Inc., Home Savings of America, Sid Jenny Craig, Coded Communications, Emblem Club #177, Spector Entertainment Group, Cappuccino In The Park and Chipwich. Major contributors were recognized on a banner and a thank-you reception was held at La C Resort and Spa on September 21. City Council members presented major contributors witt certificate of appreciation at the concert. All donors received recognition on press releases in the newsletter. In-kind contributions were provided by Coast Waste Management, Accent on Events, The BI Citizen and the Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary and La Costa Resort and Spa. FISCAL IMPACT Contributions totaling $1 3,684.00 were deposited into the Arts Office Donation Account ani funds were expended to pay for the concert. The direct costs of the Labor Day weekend conc were covered by these donations. Staff support was provided by the Arts Office, Police and Community Services Departments. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 0 0 RESOLUTION NO. 94-282 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR THE 1994 LABOR DAY WEEKEND CONCERT WHEREAS, a City Council goal for the Arts Office to seek funding from outside ! when possible; and WHEREAS, the Arts Commission recommended presenting a Labor Day weekend “Salute to America” and established a subcommittee to raise funds which raised $13,684; WHEREAS, the concert was held on September 4, 1994, and all direct costs to 1 event were expended from the amount raised. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as 1. 2. That the above recitations are true and correct. The City Council accepts contributions totaling $13,684 raised for the 19 Labor Day weekend concert. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, at a regular meeting of the City Council of thc Carlsbad, California, held on the 4th day of October , 1994, by the following votc AYES: Council Members Lewis, NOES: None ABSENT: None ALETHA L RAUTENKRANZ, City Clerk
