PCH CITY M( RECOMMENDED ACTION: CONTRACT AWARD FOR PURCHASE OF I Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. qV-29 0 , awarding bre apparatus bids for the contract period October 1 , 1994 through September 30, 1995, v option to renew each contract for three (3) additional one (1) year periods, to Allsl Equipment Inc., Fisher Safety America and Special T Fire Equipment Inc. ITEM EXPLANATION Breathing apparatus consists of high pressure air cylinders, regulators, face mas1 related accessories which provide fire fighters respiratory protection in hazardou: atmospheres. The City of Carlsbad and sixteen agencies participated in the joint cooperative bid fo compliant self contained breathing apparatus. The City of Carlsbad Fire Departmc determined that standardizing on MSA Breathing Apparatus is in the best interest oft Other participating agencies have standardized on different equipment, therefore bic requested for apparatus from three manufacturers. The anticipated orders would r purchases in excess of $230,000. Each public agency will place their respective order the selected vendors. In accordance with Section 3.28.1 20 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Bidders was pu and Requests for Bid were sent to eleven vendors. Eight bids were opened, witness recorded on September 22, 1994. The lowest, responsive bid for MSA Items 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 was submitted by Speck Equipment Inc., 1894 Commercenter West #104, San Bernadino CA 92408. The lowest, responsive bid for Scott Items 6, 7, 8 and 9, was submitted by Alls Equipment Inc., 13450 Brooks Drive, Baldwin Park CA 91706. The lowest, responsive bid for Survivair Items 10, 11 and 12 was submitted by Fishe America, 2615 Homestead Place, Rancho Dominguez CA 90220. FISCAL IMPACT The City of Carlsbad's Fire Department anticipates spending approximately $2 breathing apparatus this fiscal year. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ci California, as follows: 1. 2. That the above facts are true and correct.
