MTG. 2/21/95 BAR ; & GRILL 8th ANNUAL CARLSBAD SENIOR CENTER BENEFIT GOLF TOURNAMENT DEPT. cs AND FUNDRAISING DINNER. CITY I RECOMMENDED ACTION: City Council adopt Resolution No. 9546 accepting a $4,423 donation fror Gerico's Bar & Grill to benefit the Carlsbad Senior Center. ITEM EXPLANATION: Since September 1987, Gerico's Bar & Grill, 850 Tamarack Avenue in Carlsbac has sponsored fundraising events to benefit the Carlsbad Senior Center. Gerico's 8th Annual Carlsbad Senior Center Benefit Golf Tournament took plac on Saturday, September 24, 1994, at the Lomas Santa Fe Executive Golf Coursc In addition, dinner tickets were available for a $5.00 donation and could b redeemed during October for a meal at Gerico's Restaurant or for a $5.0 reduction in the cost of a meal at KoKo Beach Restaurant. All proceeds from th sale of dinner tickets were given to the Senior Center. This year the golf tournament and dinner raised $4,423, an increase of $238 ow last year's donation. This brings the total funds raised by Gerico's and KoK Beach to $27,826, since 1987. These funds have been placed in the Senior Citizen Trust Fund and have assiste in making it possible for the Center to purchase many special items such as th baby grand piano, billiards tables, etc., without utilizing General Fund monies. SENIOR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: At their meeting January 5, 1995, the Senior Commission voted unanimously t recommend acceptance of $4,423 raised through the Gerico's Bar & Grill 81 Annual Carlsbad Senior Center Benefit Golf Tournament and Fundraising Dinne The Senior Commission recommends that this donation be deposited into th Senior Citizen Trust Fund and be utilized towards the purchase of specii equipment at the Senior Center. FISCAL IMPACT: The $4,423 donation has been deposited into the Senior Citizen Trust Fun Account #880-519-9203--0000. EXHl BITS: 1. Resolution No.%;- 46 . 2. WHEREAS, Gerico's Bar & Grill donated four thousand fou hundred twenty three dollars ($4,423) for special equipment at the Senic Center; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept this gift; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of th City of Carlsbad as follows: 1. That the City Council accepts the donation of Four Thousand Fou Hundred Twenty Three dollars ($4,423) on behalf of the Seniors of the City c Carlsbad. The tally is in, everything counted, and unbelievably both the go1 tournament proceeds and the dinner ticket sales were higher than last year This year 597 dinner tickets were sold, surpassing last year's count of 581 The total amount raised through your efforts was $4,423. Each year, as I attempt to thank you for your support, I find words becomc less and less adequate to convey to you our appreciation for your efforts Please accept our humble and sincere thanks.
