I RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. : < - : y _is accepting bids and awarding Project No. 3412 fc construction of the North Beach Restrooms, Project No. 3412, to C.D.M.

ITEM EXPLANATION:
On February 21, 1995, City Council authorized the advertisement for bids fo construction of the North Beach Restrooms. Five (5) sealed bids were receive April 10, 1995, as follows:

The bid prices listed above are for the copper roof option. For the lowest bidde
difference in price for EL copper roof versus a painted steel roof is $2,000. Staff recomn constructing the copper roof because savings in maintenance costs will offset the increased construction costs.
This project will provide a total of 400 square feet of restroom facilities including two closets in women's restrooms and one water closet and one urinal in men's restrooms.

ENVIRONMENTAL:
The Planning Director certified a Negative Declaration and General Plan Consis determination on May 6, 1993. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has informed staff tt approval by their agency is required. A Coastal Development Permit has also been obti
FISCAL IMPACT
Total project costs are estimated at $265,000. Funds in the amount of $160,000 have appropriated for this project, thus an additional appropiration of $1 05,000 is required. requests that funds in the amount of $1 05,000 be transferred from the General Fund bz to the General Captial Construction Fund.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CIN COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF CONTRACT NO. 3412 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NORTH BEACH RESTROOMS.
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad for the construct
North Beach Restrooms, Project No. 3412; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for the project was submitted by C.D.M. in tt
of $181,771 ; and
WHEREAS, total project costs are $265,000 and
WHEREAS, Council has previous appropriated $1~60,000 for Project Number :
WHEREAS, additional funds in the amount of $105,000 are needed to con
project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Crty Council of the Crty of
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the bid of $181,771 by C.D.M. for Project No. 3412 for the construc
North Beach Restrooms is accepted, and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute
thereafter.
3. That the Finance Director is authorized to appropriate additional
$1 05,000 to Project Account No. 300-820-1820-341 2 and transfer $105,000 from tt
Fund balance to the GCC Fund.
