Introduce Ordinance No. /us- 31% amending Title 2, Chapter
2.08 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code by the amendment of Section 2.08.020 and adopt Resolution No. 95- isif adjusting the compensation of the City Treasurer.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Government Code section 36517 provides that the City Treasurer shall receive a compensation fixed by ordinance or resolution.
The City adjusted the City Treasurer’s compensation in the years of 1968, 1973, 1980, 1983, 1985 and 1989. The City Treasurer‘s current compensation is $550 per month,
The proposed ordinance adjusts the City Treasurer‘s compensation by $150 per month. In addition, the ordinance authorizes the City Council to establish an automobile allowance for necessary mileage and expenses incurred by the City Treasurer in the performance of his official duties. The resolution establishes the automobile allowance at $100 per month.
The salary adjustment would become effective 30 days after the adoption of the ordinance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
An increase of $150 per month effective 30 days following adoption, as explained above. The will be a total annual cost
increase of $1,800 in compensation and $1,200 in automobile allowance.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA AMENDING TITLE
2, CHAPTER 2.08 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADJUST THE COMPENSATION OF THE CITY TREASURER
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California
does ordain as follows:
SECTION I: That Title 2, Chapter 2.08 of the Carlsbad
Municipal Code is amended by the amendment of section 2.08.020
to read as follows:
"2.08.020 Compensation of city treasurer The compensation of the City Treasurer is fixed at the sum of seven hundred dollars per month payable biweekly. In addition, the City Treasurer shall receive an
automobile allowance as established by resolution of the.City Council. II EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective
thirty days, after its adoption, and the City Clerk shall certify
i the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at
least once in a newspaper of general'circulation in the City of
Carlsbad within fifteen days after its adoption.

RESOLUTION NO. 95-154
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA ESTABLISHING CITY
TREASURER'S MONTHLY AUTOMOBILE ALLOWANCE
WHEREAS, the Office of the City Treasurer is established
by Title 2, Chapter 2.08 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the performance of the City Treasurer's duties
and responsibilities require travel; and
WHEREAS, it is both necessary and convenient that the
City Treasurer have access to a personal vehicle for the
performance of his official duties; and
WHEREAS, the City .Treasurer shall maintain liability
insurance in an amount satisfactory to the City Manager; and
WHEREAS, the sum of $100 per month is a reasonable amount
as compensation for such actual, reasonable and necessary
automobile expenses,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Treasurer shall receive an automobile
allowance of $100 per month.
