ITEM EXPLANATION: Government Code section 36517 provides that the City Treasurer shall receive a compensation fixed by ordinance or resolution. The City adjusted the City Treasurer’s compensation in the years of 1968, 1973, 1980, 1983, 1985 and 1989. The City Treasurer‘s current compensation is $550 per month, The proposed ordinance adjusts the City Treasurer‘s compensation by $150 per month. In addition, the ordinance authorizes the City Council to establish an automobile allowance for necessary mileage and expenses incurred by the City Treasurer in the performance of his official duties. The resolution establishes the automobile allowance at $100 per month. The salary adjustment would become effective 30 days after the adoption of the ordinance. FISCAL IMPACT: An increase of $150 per month effective 30 days following adoption, as explained above. The will be a total annual cost increase of $1,800 in compensation and $1,200 in automobile allowance. EXHIBITS : 1. Ordinance No. Ns” 3/s 2. In addition, the City Treasurer shall receive an automobile allowance as established by resolution of the.City Council. II EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty days, after its adoption, and the City Clerk shall certify i the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least once in a newspaper of general'circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen days after its adoption.
