CITY A' AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT MODIFICATIONS/
Adopt Resolution No. 9 5 e [ 9 b approving plans and specifications and
authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for playground equipment
modifications and/or replacement to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act
at Holiday, Stagecoach, Calavera, and Laguna Riviera Parks, Project No. CSD 0020.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Americans with Disabilities Act requires that park facilities be modified to
accommodate disabled persons. To meet the requirements of the act, there is need
to provide handicap accessible play equipment at the following community park sites,
Holiday, Stagecoach, Calavera, and Laguna Riviera. The plans and specifications
include new equipment at Stagecoach, Holiday, and Laguna Riviera as well as
facilities will be modified to have wheel chair accessible surfacing provided to the play
equipment.
A second part of the ADA project will be the installation of sidewalks/pathways to link
the various facilities at Holiday Park. This will be addressed in a separate contract
and agenda bill in September of this year.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The construction/installation estimate for the work outlined in the plans and
specifications is $1 50,000. The City Council has previously appropriated $165,000
of Community Development Block Grant funding for this project. The funding is in
accounts 391-1821-3749 (Holiday), 391-1823-3750 (Laguna Riviera), 391-124-3751
(Stagecoach), and. 391-1822-3752 (Calavera). There are also CIP funds available in
Acct. No. 300-1 81 0-3441 to facilitate these improvements.
