Adopt Resolution No. ~~-2!.!.2 which approves the plans and specifications I
construction of a traffic signal at the intersection of Alga Road and Batiquitos Drh
directs the City Clerk to solicit bids for Project No. 3474. I ITEM EXPLANATION:
Staff has evaluated the intersection of Alga Road and Batiquitos Drive. With the
completion of a78-unit development that connects to Alga Road opposite Batiquitos
making this a four leg intersection and increasing traffic volumes--staff has determinc
a traffic signal is warranted for this location. Aviara has provided funding for the
project through an assessment district. New crosswalks and signage will be inch
part of the project.
Staff recommends approval of the project plans and specifications and requests tl
City Council authorize the City Clerk to advertise for bids,
I ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This project is categorically exempt from environmental review under the provisions
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). I FISCAL IMPACT:
The Engineer’s Estimate for the construction of this project is $99,000. Assessment
funds in the amount of $125,000 are available in the 1994-1995 Capital Impro\
Program budget.

RESOLUTION NO. 95-222
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF
ALGA ROAD AND BATIQUITOS DRIVE, PROJECT NO. 3474.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carjsbad has determined it nl
desirable, and in the public interest to consttuct a traffic signal at the intersection of P
and Batiquitos Drive; and
WHEREAS, the plans, specifications, and contract documents for completing tt
have been prepared and are on file in the Engineering Department of the City of Carl!
WHEREAS, the approved 94-95 Capital Improvement Program budget includes
assessment district funds to construct this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the plans, specifications, and contract documents as presented a
