RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 95-3@ appointing a member to the Serra Cooperative Library
System Advisory Board.
I IT€M €YPLAMAT16N:
The California Library Services Act provides for the creation of an Advisory Board
consisting of members from each library in the Cooperative System. Since the City of
Carlsbad is a member of the Serra System, the City Council has the right to appoint one
member to the Advisory Board. That person must be a resident of Carlsbad.
At its meeting of September 20, 1995, the Library Board of Trustees unanimously
recommended to the City Council that Trustee Emmett J. Woodward, Jr. be reappointed
to a second term as Carlsbad’s representative on the Serra Cooperative Library System
Advisory Board. It was noted that Trustee Woodward was just elected Vice-president of
the Serra Advisory Board. Serra Advisory Board members are allowed to serve a
maximum of two terms.

RESOLUTION NO. 95-304
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA,
APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE SERRA COOPERATIVE
LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad is a member of the Serra Cooperative
Library System; and
WHEREAS, the Serra Cooperative Library System Advisory Board was
established pursuant to the California Library Services Act, which provides that
the governing body of each member jurisdiction of the Cooperative Library
System shall appoint one member to the Advisory Board;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That Emmett Woodward is hereby appointed to the Serra Cooperative
Library System for a two-year term.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, at a regular meeting held on the 7th day of NOVEMBER ,
1995, by the following vote, to wit:
