H CITY AT CITY MC a E.! 6 x a EL RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. ?fi''g/d accepting bids and awarding a contract for cor repairs and pavement overlays at five locations in the southwest quadrant of the Project Nos. 241 1 and 241 2. ITEM EXPLANATION: On August 15, 1995, the City Council approved the plans and specifications for F Nos. 241 1 and 241 2 and directed the City Clerk to advertise for construction bid! October 26, 1995, the following five (5) sealed bids were received. 1. Daley Corporation/California Commercial Asphalt, Inc., J.V. $393,: 2. Granite Construction $41 5,' 3. Southpaw Construction $453, s 4. Interwest Pacific W3,r 5. Sim J. Harris $491 ,' Bids have been reviewed and analyzed. The lowest responsible bid( Daley Corporation/California Commercial Asphalt, Inc., J.V., which submitted a $393,534. Staff recommends award of the contract to Daley Corporation/Ca Commercial Asphalt, Inc., J.V. Construction is scheduled to take 45 working days. The pavement overlays wil rubberized asphalt on the following streets: 1. Eastbond lanes of Palomar Airport Road between Camino Vida Roble and ! west of Palomar Oaks Way. Yarrow Drive between Camino Vida Roble and Palomar Airport Road. Columbine Drive between Mimosa Drive and Catalpa Road. Wisteria Way between Daisy Avenue and Daisy Avenue. 2. 3. 4. Curb, gutter, sidewalk and storm drain repairs will require single lane closure: working hours on Palomar Airport Road lasting approximately two weeks. Traffic be maintained in one lane. As stated in the City’s Pavement Managc Program, it is approximately four times more cost-effective to utilize funds to keep a street in good condition than it is to repair a street that has deteriorated and is in condition. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT This project is categorically exempt from the requirements of the California Environr Quality Act (CEQA) and a Notice of Exemption was filed by the Planning Director. WHEREAS, the City Council of the Crty of Carlsbad has determined it nf desirable, and in the public interest to award a contract for concrete repairs and F overlays in the southwest quadrant of the City; and WHEREAS, five (5) sealed bids were received on October 26, 1995 for the pro WHEREAS, the lowest responsive, responsible bid for the project was submittec Corporation/California Commercial Asphalt, Inc., J.V., in the amount of $393,534. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Crty of California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the low bid submitted by Daley Corporation/Califomia Commercial As J.V., in the amount of $393,534 is hereby accepted and the Mayor is hereby aut execute a contract on behatf of the Clty for concrete repairs and pavement overlays.
