ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION FROM
HOME SAVINGS OF AMERICA
City Council adopt Resolution No. 96- 98 accepting a $900 donation fror
Home Savings of America to benefit the Carlsbad Senior Center.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
In October 1995, Sheila Barrow, Branch Manager of the Carlsbad Office o
Home Savings of America, approached staff about Home Savings purchasini
a piece of equipment for the Seniors.
After much discussion, Ms. Barrow indicated that she would investigate th
costs necessary to purchase a camcorder for use at the Center.
In December 1995, a check for $900 was received from Home Savings to b
utilized toward the purchase of the camcorder.
SENIOR COMMlSSl ON RECOMMENDATION :
At their meeting February 15, 1996, the Carlsbad Senior Commission vote
unanimously to recommend acceptance of the $900 donation from Hom
Savings of America for the purchase of a camcorder.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The $900 donation has been deposited into the Senior Trust Fund,
Account #880-5 1 9-9203-0000, to be utilized for the purchase of a camcorde

RESOLUTION NO. 96-90
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION
OF NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($900).
WHEREAS, nine hundred dollars ($900) was donated to the
Carlsbad Senior Center by Home Savings of America; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept this gift;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad as follows:
1.
($900) on behalf of the Seniors of the City of Carlsbad.
That the City Council accept the donation of nine hundred dollars
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
City Council of the City of Carlsbad held on the 19th day of
, 1996, by the following vote, to wit: MARCH

Dear Sheila:
Many thanks to you and Home Savings of America for the recent
donation to the Carlsbad Senior Center.
Over the last year, many Seniors have expressed an interest in our
purchasing a video recorder. Thanks to Home Savings that "wish" can
now become a reality and we will be able to film the many activities
offered at the Center.
Thanks also for the many years of ongoing support your branch has
provided to our program. Without the support of this generous
community, the Senior Center would be unable to provide the varied
programs and activities that we presently enjoy.
Thanks again Sheila, and we will be sure to invite you when we have
a premier showing of "A Day At The Carlsbad Senior Center."
