RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council adopt Resolution No.%-el/ accepting a $3,865 donation fror
Gerico’s Bar & Grill to benefit the Carlsbad Senior Center.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Since September 1987, Gerico’s Bar & Grill, 850 Tamarack Avenue in Carlsbac
has sponsored fundraising events to benefit the Carlsbad Senior Center.
Gerico’s 9th Annual Carlsbad Senior Center Benefit Golf Tournament took plac
on Saturday, September 16, 1995, at the Lomas Santa Fe Executive Go
Course. In addition, dinner tickets were sold and could be redeemed durin
October for a $5.00 reduction in the cost of a meal at KoKo Beach Restauran.
All proceeds from the sale of dinner tickets were given to the Senior Center
This year the golf tournament and dinner raised $3,865. This brings the tot;
funds raised by Gerico’s and KoKo Beach to $31,691, since 1987.
These funds have been placed in the Senior Citizen Trust Fund and hav
assisted in making it possible for the Center to purchase many special item
such as the baby grand piano, billiards tables, etc., without utilizing Generi
Fund monies.
SENIOR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
At their meeting December 7, 1996, the Senior Commission voted unanimous1
to recommend acceptance of $3,865 raised through the Gerico’s Bar & Grill 9t
Annual Carlsbad Senior Center Benefit Golf Tournament and Fundraising Dinne
The Senior Commission recommends that this donation be deposited into th
Senior Citizen Trust Fund and be utilized towards the purchase of speci,
equipment at the Senior Center.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The $3,865 donation has been deposited into the Senior Citizen Trust Fun
Account #880-5 1 9-9203-0000.

RESOLUTION NO. 96-91
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION OF
THREE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED
SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS (3,865).
WHEREAS, Gerico's Bar & Grill donated Three Thousand Eigt
Hundred Sixty Five Dollars ($3,865) for special equipment at the Seni
Center; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept this gift;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of tt
City of Carlsbad as follows:
1. That the City Council accepts the donation of Three Thousar
Eight Hundred Sixty Five Dollars ($3,865) on behalf of the Seniors of the Ci
of Carlsbad.

Dear Gerry, Martin & Jeff:
Thank you very much for once again sponsoring the golf
tournament and dinner ticket fundraiser for the Carlsbad Senior
Center. Your support of the senior center continues to be greatly
appreciated.
This years’ golf tournament raised $1,315 and the dinner ticket
sales raised $2,550, bringing the grand total to $3,865. This
money will be used to support programs and activities which
would not be possible through other funding sources. For this
reason, your contribution is especially valued.
As in the past, I am again challenged to find words that convey
our sincere appreciation for all that you do to support the
Carlsbad Senior Center. I find that all I can say is many, many
thanks for your kind generosity.
