I ITEM EXPLANATION:
In order to systematically improve the sidewalk system in the City of Carl:
Engineering Department surveyed every street in the City and published the
Inventory Report in February 1991. This report lists all missing sidewalk segme
City and established a formal procedure to prioritize sidewalk construction. 1 factors were used to evaluate the need for sidewalks and a major consider;
proximity to schools and school routes. This contract will complete importani
links in front of Valley Junior High School and on Magnolia Avenue east and w
school. It will also complete a section of sidewalk at the northwest corner of F
and Tamarack Avenue which could not be constructed with a previous contrac

This project is categorically exempt from environmental review under the provisi8

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CURB,
GUTTER AND SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION, PROJECT NO. 3391 -3.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the Crty of Carlsbad has determined it
desirable, and in the public interest to construct curb, gutter and sidewalk on Magn
and Valley Street; and
WHEREAS, the plans, specifications, and contract documents for completing
have been prepared and are on file in the Engineering Department of the Crty of C:
WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available to construct this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City (
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the plans, specifications, and contract documents as presented
