ITEM EXPLANATION:
In August of last year, staff solicited proposals from landscape architect and arl
to prepare an 1-5 Corridor Landscape Concept Plan. The purpose of the corridor to create a landscapinglvisual theme along Interstate 5 through the City boundar
emphasizes the coastal atmosphere of Carlsbad. The plan was also to inch
statements at both entrances (adjacent to the Batiquitos and Buena Vista L Development of the 1-5 corridor with entry statements will be a major design feat1
City and will generate significant interest in many areas of the community. Tt
were contracted to provide detailed project proposals and a model of a propose

The Planning Commission would also have interest in the character of the cor,

In order to guide completion of the consultant selection process and further dc
1-5 Corridor program, staff evaluated the establishment of a working committee
considered for the make up of the committee are summarized as follows:

The Committee would be advisory to the City Council and would report to the C
appropriate stages in the review process. The Committee would be supportec

The final outcome of the Committee’s effort would be two-fold. First, the Commitl
select one of the three landscape architects and artist teams to prepare the iz
concept plan. It should be noted that the Committee’s recommendation of the I
landscape architect and artist team is in addition and supplemental to the existing
the selection of professional consultants. Second, the Committee would recomr

The next phase of the 1-5 Corridor Landscape Concept Plan would be the develo
