RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. ?be 1 9 7 approving contract documents, special provi
and specifications; and authorizing the Clty Clerk to advertise for bids for the Communit)
Development Building Reroof, Contract No. CS96-2.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City established a roof rehabilitation program several years ago to systematically rey
roofs before they failed. The Community Development building, which was constructed
is now due to have the roof replaced. The original "spec" roof is buckled in numerous a1
leaked and has required repair in recent storms. Replacement of the roof will protect thc
structure and the equipment inside and eliminate inconvenience to the occupants, The r
which includes insulation, can be expected to last twenty years and will cost an estimatec
$1 10,000. It is deemed prudentho fund this project from the current year fund balance tc
facilitate reroofing this facility duhg the summer months before next year's rainy season,
contract specifications are on file in the Community Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT
Staff recommends the use of General Fund reserves to fund the $1 10,000 cost of replaci,
roof of the Community Development building. Sufficient funds are available in the unresc
General Fund balance and could be transferred to the Community Services Department,
Management Major Maintenance Account.
