RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. qb- /?b accepting donations of twc
hundred dollars ($200) cash and one thousand dollars ($1,000) ir
merchandise in support of the Youth Track & Field Meet and thc
Youth Golf Clinic.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Community Services Department has been provided with
donations of cash and product totaling one thousand two hundred
($1,200) dollars in support of the annual Youth Golf Clinic and Track Meet. During the April meeting, the Parks and Recreation
Commission received these donations and unanimously recommended acceptance by the City Council. The following organizations offered donations in support of the Youth Track & Field Meet and the Youth
Golf Clinic:
Taylor Made Golf Co. - Youth Golf Clinic (golf clubs)
Carlsbad Village Optimists - Youth Track Meet (cash)

The Youth Golf Clinic was held February 24. The clinic paired local
golf pros with children, giving them an opportunity to experience golf,
free of charge. Donated clubs were given to participants as a part of a
drawing.
This year's Youth Track Meet was held on Saturday, April 27. Approximately one hundred youths participated in the track meet
which is a qualifier for the county track meet held May 1 lth in Poway.
The cash donation helped to offset the cost of awards for participants.
FISCAL IMPACT
$1,200 in products and cash were utilized for awards and participant drawings. Funds will be deposited into account #880-5 19-92 10~0000
(Recreation Special Events). All donations offset the cost to the City in
providing for these special events and contribute to the popularity of
these activities.

VALUING A TOTAL OF TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLAR
($1,200) IN SUPPORT OF THE YOUTH GOLF CLINIC ANI
THE ANNUAL YOUTH TRACK AND FIELD MEET
WHEREAS, the Annual Golf clinic was held on February 24, l!
and the Annual Youth Track Meet was held April 27; and
WHEREAS, the Parks & Recreation Commission has receiv
donations of goods and money totaling $1,200, a copy of which is attach
hereto and made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission h
recommended acceptance of these donations by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept these donations a
acknowledge the generosity and support of community vendors a
organizations who donated to this special event. I
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council oft
City of Carlsbad the following:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council does hereby accept the merchandise a
financial support totaling twelve hundred dollars ($1,200).

WHEREAS, one thousand dollars ($1,000) was donated to thc
Carlsbad Senior Center by A person who requests to remair
anonymous; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept this gift;
