Adopt Ordinance No. NS-361, amending Title 2, Chapter 2.04 of the Carlsbad Municipal Coc
to increase the compensation of the Mayor and Members of the City Council fiom $607 p
month to $8 16 per month, effective following the Declaration of Results of the November
1 1996, Election.

Ordinance No. NS-361 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on Ju
11, 1996. The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance which wou
then become effective in thirty days. The City Clerk will have the ordinance published wit1
Meen days, if adopted.

ORDINANCE NO. NS-361
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 2,
CHAPTER 2.04 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE
BY THE AMENDMENT OF SECTION 2.04.01 0 TO
INCREASE THE COMPENSATION OF THE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, does ordain E
follows:
SECTION I: That Title 2, Chapter 2.04 of the Carlsbad Municipal
amended by the amendment of Section 2.04.010 to read as follows:
“2.04.010 Compensation.
(1) Each member of the City Council shall receive as salary the :
$500 per month as authorized by Section 36516 of the Government Code for (
50,000 and up to and including 75,000 in population plus the sum of $316 per
representing an increase of 5% per year for each calendar year from the operz
of the last adjustment of salary, for a total of $816 per month payable at the Si
and in the same manner as salaries are paid to other officers and employees (
City.
(2) The salaries established by this section are exclusive of any
payable to each member of the City council as reimbursement for actual and r
expenses incurred in the performance of official duties for the City.
(3) This section shall become operative only on and after the da
which one or more members of the City Council become eligible pursuant to S
36516.5 of the Government Code for a salary increase by virtue of beginning i
term of office following adoption of this section.”
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty days
adoption, and the City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this ordinance and ca
be published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of
within fifteen days after its adoption.
