ITEM EXPLANATION: In preparation for the General Municipal Election, it is nece for Council to take certain actions. This agenda bill present first three actions required. Resolution No. c/&-275 , calls and gives notice of the Ge Municipal Election to be held in the City 011 November 5, 1996, the purpose of electing two members of the City Council. nomination period for candidates is July 1.5, 1996, to Augu: 1996. If an incumbent does not file, the deadline extend August 14, 1996 Resolution No. 0/&-2yb , requests the Board of Supervisor consolidate our General Municipal Election with the stab election being held the same day. Resolution No. Cib-AyI) , adopts regulations for candidates ai General Municipal Election. These regulations are in accorc with previous elections, as follows: a. There is a 200 word limitation for candidates statements b. The city will bill candidates for printing, handling mailing their candidates statements after the election actual costs are known. The estimated cost is $346. the Voting Right Act requires a Spanish translation, estimated cost includes a $75 charge for Sp( translation. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad cal: General Municipal Election to be held on. Furnish a tabulation of the number of registered v( in each precinct. Establish voting precincts, secure locations polling places, secure the services of election officers for precinct as required by law, and furnish a list of precii polling places and election officers for filing in the offic the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad. 2. 3. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if this consolidatior ordered, then pursuant to Section 14010 of the Elections ( within the territories affected by this order of consolidal the election precincts, polling places, voting booths and PO. hours shall, in every case be the same, and there shall be one set of election officers in each of th.e precincts. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Cou.nty of San Diego : be reimbursed in full for the services performed by the Regis of Voters for the City of Carlsbad upon presentation of therefor.
