Adopt Resolution No. '5% -283 accepting bids and awarding a contract for the con traffic signal at the intersection of Paseo del Norte and Camino de las Ondas, Project h
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On April 23, 1996, the City Council approved the plans and specifications for Project I
directed the City Clerk to advertise for construction bids. On July 9, 1996, the foll
sealed bids were received:
1. Lekos Electric, Inc.
2. DBX, Inc.
3. MCR Electrical Contractors
4. Select Electric, Inc.
5. Knox Electric, Inc.
6. Countywide Lighting

Bids have been reviewed and analyzed. The lowest responsible bidder is Lekos E

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
This project is categorically exempt from the requirements of the California Environn
Act (CEQA) and a Notice of Exemption was filed by the Planning Director.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To date, total expenditures for this project have been $4,318. The estimated cost to
project is:
Construction $81,091
Construction Contingency (12%) 9,370
Project Administration & Inspection (5%) 4,054
TOTAL $9431 5
Funds in the amount of $105,682 are available for Project No. 3427.
Estimated annual electrical and maintenance costs for this signal is $5,000.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE
INTERSECTION OF PASEO DEL NORTE AND CAMINO DE LAS
ONDAS. PROJECT NO. 3427.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California has det
necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to award a contract for the construction
signal at the intersection of Paseo del Norte and Camino de las Ondas; and
WHEREAS, six (6) sealed bids were received on July 9, 1996 for the project; a1
WHEREAS, the lowest responsive, responsible bid for the project was si
Lekos Electric, Inc., in the amount of $81,091.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City o
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the low bid submitted by Lekos Electric, Inc., in the amount of $81,OE
accepted and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the
construction of said traffic signal.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad (
held on the 20thday of August , 1996 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Nygaard, Kulchin, Hall and Finnil
