RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. yk .-% "i which approves the plans and specificat
construction of a traffic signal at the intersection of Aviara Parkway and Blue I
and directs the City Clerk to solicit bids for Project No. 3501. 1 ITEM EXPLANATION:
This intersection will serve as the main entrance to the Aviara Hotel that is CUI
construction. When the hotel opens in July 1997, the increase in traffic w
traffic signal at this intersection. Because of the large volume of construction 1
hotel and the existing residential development on the north side of the
Hillman Properties has requested that this traffic signal be constructed at this 1
Staff recommends approval of the project plans and specifications and requc
City Council authorize the City Clerk to advertise for construction bids.
I ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
This project is categorically exempt from environmental review under the prov
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and a Notice of Exemption will bt
Planning Director.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Engineer's Estimate for the construction of this project is $85,000.
District Funds in the amount of $120,000 are available in the project account.

CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS A
AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIOS FORT
CONSTRUCTION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION
AVIARA PARKWAY AND BLUE HERON PLACE. PROJECT NO. 3501
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California has del
necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to construct a traffic sigl
intersection of Aviara Parkway and Blue Heron Place; and
WHEREAS, the plans, specifications, and contract documents for (
this project have been prepared and are on file in the Engineering Departn
City of Carlsbad; and
WHEREAS, the 1996-97 Capital Improvement Program budgel
sufficient assessment district funds to construct this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of tl
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the plans, specifications, and contract documents as pre!

construction of a traffic signal at the intersection of Aviara Parkway and BI
Place, Project No. 3501, in accordance with the plans, specifications, anc
documents referred to herein.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Car
Council held on the 20th day of August , 1996 by the following vc
