RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Introduce Ordinance No. a\rs - 38G to establish a NO PARKING zone on Camino De Los
Coches from Calle Acervo to Terraza Disoma, 7:OO a.m. to 200 p.m., Monday through Friday
September I through June 15.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
This request for a parking restriction was initiated by Simeon Greenstein, Principal of La Cost: Canyon High School. In the interest of being a good neighbor in the community by not havins
students park on the street during school hours, he requested the on-street parking restriction. Thc
restriction has the traffic safety benefit of not having parked cars on the street for students to rur
across the street to at many different locations.
Because the restriction would be during the day, Monday through Friday from September 1 tc
June 15, it would not interfere with activities at Stagecoach Park. After 2:OO p.m. each day
on-street parking would be permitted if overflow parking for Stagecoach Park was necessary.
By a 4-0 vote at their September 9, 1996 Traffic'Safety Commission meeting, the Commissior
recommended establishing a NO PARKING zone on both sides of Camino De Los Coches, Monda:
through Friday, 7:OO a.m. to 200 p.m., September 1 to June 15 between Calle Acervo and Terraz:
Disoma.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Installation of ten special NO PARKING signs and telspar posts will cost approximately $1,100.

ORDINANCE NO. NS-380
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE IO, CHAPTER
10.40 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE ADDITION,
OF SECTION 10.40.044 TO DECLARE A NO PARKING ZONE ON CAMINO DE LOS COCHES, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY,
BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7:OO A.M. AND 2:OO P.M.,
SEPTEMBER 1 TO JUNE 15.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title IO, Chapter 10.40 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended by
the addition of Section 10.40.044 to read as follows:
“10.40.044 Parking Time Limit on Camino De Los Coches.
When authorized signs are in place giving notice thereof, no person
shall stop, stand or park any vehicle on Camino De Los Coches,
between Calle Acervo and Terraza Disoma, Monday through Friday,
between the hours of 7:OO a.m. and‘ 2:OO p.m., September 1 to \ June 15.” //
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance ,sgall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption
and the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad, shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to
be published at least once in a new3paper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within
fifteen (1 5) days after its adpption. ’
