RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.
($15,070) dollars in support of the 1996 Carlsbad International Bodysurfing Championships.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Community Services Department has been provided with donations and in-kind services of fifteen tho1
seventy ($15,070) dollars in support of the Carlsbad International Bodysurfing Championship. The contes
on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, August 9 - 11, 1996 as more than 1,000 spectators enjoyed the action of ne(
hundred (200) competitors. The donations provided awards and prizes to top finishers and other competito

FISCAL IMPACT:
Fifteen thousand and seventy ($15,070) dollars in merchandise, gift certificates and in-kind services were
utilized for awards, prizes and advertisement for the Bodysurfing Championship. All donations offset the
cost to the City in providing for this special event and contribute to the popularity of this activity.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA,
ACCEPTING DONATIONS OF MERCHANDISE,
GIFT CERTIFICATES AND IN KIND SERVICES
VALUING A TOTAL OF FIFTEEN THOUSAND
SEVENTY ($15,070) DOLLARS IN SUPPORT OF
THE ANNUAL CARLSBAD INTERNATIQNAL
BODYSURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad has received donations of merchandise,
gift certificates and in-kind services valuing a total of fifteen thousand and seventy
($1 5,070) dollars in support of the 1996 Carlsbad International Bodysurfkg
Championship;
WHEREAS, these donations have contributed to offsetting the City’s cos1
of providing this special event and also contributed to the overall success and
enjoyment of this program by the participants; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to acknowledge the generosity and
support of community vendors who have contributed to this special event; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept these contributions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
- 1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council does hereby accept the merchandise, gii
certificates and in kind service donations, a copy of which is
attached hereto and made part of.
