to Attend Bi-Tech Software
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve Resolution No. Yd-JM, approving out-of-state travel for three City employees ti
the Bi-Tech Software National User Group conference in Reno, Nevada.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
In April 1996, the City Council approved the purchase of Bi-Tech Software for the new Finanl
Information System. City staff is currently in the process of implementing this system with a ‘I
date of January 2, 1997. Bi-Tech clients have formed a users group that has annual and regi
User Group Conferences. The Western Bi-Tech Software National User Group (BSNUG) cor
this Fall is in Reno, Nevada, from October 30 through November 2, 1996.
The User Group conference allows users to share information and issues associated with the
software. In addition, there are sessions that address the latest developments from Bi-Tech i
“HOW-TO” meetings for various software modules. This will be a valuable forum for both lnforr
Systems and Finance staff to gain knowledge about the new system and establish contacts v
Bi-Tech clients for future questions and assistance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
When the budget was established for FY 1996-97, staff was not aware of the BSNUG confer1
and, therefore, did not include it in the travel budget for the Financial Information System. St:
requesting that the Council approve attendance for three employees, two from the Finance
The total cost for three City staff members to attend this conference for four days will be
approximately $3,300. There are sufficient funds in the Financial Information System project I
accommodate these expenses.

RESOLUTION NO. 96-348
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING OUT-OF-STATE
TRAVEL FOR THREE EMPLOYEES TO ATTEND THE BI-TECH
SOFTWARE NATIONAL USER GROUP CONFERENCE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, authorize
purchase of Bi-Tech Software for the new Financial Information System in April
and
WHEREAS, the Bi-Tech Software National User Group conference is a
worthwhile and educational event for Bi-Tech clients who want to learn more at
software and establish useful contacts; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available in the Financial Informati
System project budget for three staff members to attend the conference; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby fi
necessary, desirable and in the public interest to authorize out-of-state travel fc
members of the Finance and Information Systems staff to attend the Bi-Tech S
National Users Group conference in Reno, Nevada.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That out-of-state travel is hereby authorized, in accordance with City
for members of the staff of Information Systems and Finance to atter
Tech National Software Users Group conference in Reno, Nevada.
