HD. v FOR A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF PROJECT NO. 3501 RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. ?b -.%o accepting bids and awarding a contract for the con traffic signal at the intersection of Aviara Parkway and Four Seasons Point, Project No. ITEM EXPLANATION: On August 20, 1996, the City Council approved the plans and specifications for Proj and directed the City Clerk to advertise for construction bids. On October 17, 1996, three (3) sealed bids were received: 1. Select Electric, Inc. 2. Lekos Electric, Inc. 3. DBX, Inc. $82,144 $83,316 $83,396 Bids have been reviewed and analyzed. The lowest responsible bidder is Select E submitted a bid of $82,144. Staff recommends award of the contract to Select Electric Because Aviara Parkway was scheduled for resurfacing before this signal would be co City's signal maintenance contractor was directed to install the traffic signal loop detr project in Aviara Parkway. Having the loops constructed before the resurfacing projl the need to cut into the street shortly after it was resurfaced. Construction of the tl estimated to begin in January 1997. The actual start date will depend on the delive signal equipment from the manufacturer. Once started, construction is scheduled to in less than thirty (30) working days. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: This project is categorically exempt from the requirements of the California Environr Act (CEQA) and a Notice of Exemption was filed on August 9, 1996 by the Planning Dil FISCAL IMPACT: e $ ce: a. 2 To date, total expenditures for this project have been $9,365, The estimated cost to project is: Construction $82,144 Construction Contingency (10%) 8,214 Project Administration & Inspection (5%) 4,107 TOTAL $94,465 Funds in the amount of $115,635 are available from the Alga Road Assessme Project No. 3501. 51 - Estimated annual electrical and maintenance costs for this signal is $5,000.
