BLD I I cm MGR. % r 0 w B z la 2 0 F 0 9l 0 2 3 0 0 .. a I RECOMMENDED ACTION: It is recommended that the City Council ADOPT Ordinance No.ISS-384 ' d amending Title Chapter 18.12 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code, to adopt by reference the 1996 Edition of National Electrical Code. ITEM EXPLANATION: Staff is proposing adoption of the latest edition of the model code. The model code is adopte the State Building Standards Commission into the State Building Code. Local jurisdictions required to enforce these regulations as the minimum stan.dards for construction throughoui State. This Council action will bring the City into compliance with the State requirements. Staff is proposing the 1996 Edition of the National Electrical Code with only prior modifications. fee increases are proposed for electrical permits in this ordinance. FISCAL IMPACT: No fee increase is proposed by this ordinance. The City will incur no additional costs b! adoption of this ordinance. EXHIBITS: 1. NS-384 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, REFERENCE THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE (1996 EDITION). The City Council of the City of Carlsbad does ordain as follow: SECTION 1: That Title 18, Chapter 18.1 2 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 18, CHAPTER 18.1 2 TO ADOPT BY amended by the amendment of Section 18.12.01 0 to read as follows: 18.12.01 0 Adorsted. The National Electrical Code (1 996 Edition), copyrighted by the National Fire Protection Association i.s hereby adopted by reference as the electrical code of the City except for the changes, additions and amendments set for in this chapte which shall supersede the provisions of said code. EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty days after its adoption, and the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the city within fifteen da) after its adoption.
