Adopt Resolution No. 96- 431 amending the Salary Schedule effective December 2,1996 for
classifications represented by the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On January 23, 1996, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 96-33 approving a Memorandum
of Understanding (MOU) with the Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association (CPOA). The term of
the MOU is three (3) years and will expire on December 3 1,1998.
The terms of the MOU with CPOA call for a 2% general wage increase effective December 2,
1996. Therefore, attached is the revised salary schedule for classifications represented by the
Carlsbad Police Officers’ Association.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of salary adjustments and related benefits is estimated at $50,000 for FY 1996/97.
These funds have been included in the 1996/97 Police Department operating budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A
REVISED SALARY SCHEDULE FOR CLASSIFICATIONS
REPRESENTED BY THE CARLSBAD POLICE OFFICERS’
ASSOCIATION.
WHEREAS, representatives of management and the Carlsbad Police Officers’
Association conducted negotiations pursuant to the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act regarding
wages and other terms and conditions of employment for the period October 1995 to
January 1996; and
WHEREAS, said representatives reached agreement and submitted the
Memorandum of Understanding to the City Council which was approved; and
WHEREAS, the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding call for a 2%
general wage increase effective December 2, 1996; and
WHEREAS, funds for this salary adjustment are available and have been included
in the Police Department operating budget for Fiscal Year 1996197.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
