ITEM EXPLANATION
I According to our Information Systems department, many of the City's laser printe
support the newer computer software we have recently acquired. Only a few
purchased laser printers will support the new financial information system currer
installed. Also, the older laser printers are becoming high maintenance items dl
increasing frequency of repairs. As a result, a laser printer upgrade effort is necessar)

FISCAL IMPACT
The Information Systems capital account has $45,700.00 budgeted for this repl;
Additionally, $30,000.00 is available in the CIP for printer replacement as needed.
Hewlett Packard is offering trade-in rebates that will be applied against the purchase
printers. However, the rebate amounts fluctuate due to market conditions and
predictable. Currently they range from $90.00 to $225.00 depending on the type c
traded-in.

RESOLUTION NO. 96-444
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, ACCEPTING A BID AND AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF LASER PRINTERS.
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad requires the replacement of old laser F

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City 01
as follows:
1. The bid of Microage Computer Center is hereby accepted.
2. The Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized and directed to issue a
order for the number of laser printers indicated by the lnformatior
department in an amount not to exceed $59,751.69.
