POL TO DESTROY FILES CITY RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. q"? - 9 7 authorizing the destruction certain files, ITEM EXPLANATION: This agenda bill is part of a continuing Record Management Progra for City departments. Adoption of the Resolution will complete t destruction of obsolete and unnecessary files in the Poli Department. Government Code Section 34090 provides authority for destruction documents that are more than two years old and are no long and the authorization of the City Council prior to the destruction of a documents. I I 1 2 3 4 5 6 I 8 9 10 I1 12 13 14 15 16 I' 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 0 0 RESOLUTION NO. 9 7 - 4 7 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNLA, AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN FILES, WHEREAS, the documents listed on Exhibit A attached her and made a part hereof, have been reviewed by the Chief of Police: i WHEREAS, the Chief of Police recommends that all docume listed on Exhibit A are more than two years old, are no lon required, and meet the requirements of Government Code Sect 34090 for destruction: and WHEREAS, maintaining all obsolete files, correspondence papers is uneconomical: and WHEREAS, the City Attorney has consented to the destructioi those documents listed on Exhibit A. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of City of Carlsbad, as follows: 1. 2. That the above recitations are true and correct.
