RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 9 9 - S 8

ITEM EXPLANATION:
In December 1996, the Finance Department hired a new Senior Accountant. As part of the
for Finance personnel, staff recommends attendance at GFOA seminars on a periodic t:
February 1997, the GFOA will be holding an Intermediate Governmental Accounting Sei

GFOA training programs provide the best educational opportunities in governmental finan

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING OUT-OF-STAT€
TRAVEL FOR SENIOR ACCOUNTANT TO ATTEND THE GFOA
INTERMEDIATE GOVERNMENTAL ACCOUNTING SEMINAR
WHEREAS, the Finance Department hired a new Senior Accc
December 1996; and
WHEREAS, the GFOA Intermediate Governmental Accounting Ser
worthwhile and educational seminar for public employees who want to learn n
governmental finance and establish useful contacts; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available in the Finance C
budget for the Senior Accountant to attend the seminar; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, here
necessary, desirable and in the public interest to authorize out-of-state tra
