RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.99-432 authorizing Mayor Pro Tern Ramona Finnila and Arts Manager Connie Beardsley to attend the annual dedication of the opening of the Spring in Sister Cit Karlovy Vary, the Czech Republic from April 29 to May 6,1997.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The Mayor of Karlovy Vary invited the Mayor of Carlsbad and two City representatives oi Carlsbad to attend the dedication of the opening of the Spring as guests of the historic city (Karlsbad in German). Karlovy Vary will cover all expenses of Carlsbad delegates while tl delegates are visiting in the Sister City.
There have been several cultural exchanges between the two cities to date and this offers the opportunity for representatives of both cities to discuss mutually beneficial programs.
FISCAL IMPACT
The estimated cost to attend the Sister City event is $2,500 which includes transportation and related expenses for two people. Funds are available in the City Council budget.

RESOLUTION NO. 97-432
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING MAYOR PRO TEM FlNNlLA AND THE ARTS MANAGER TO TRAVEL TO KARLOVY VARY, THE CZECH REPUBLIC TO ATTEND THE ANNUAL DEDICATION OF THE SPRING, APRIL 29 TO MAY 6,1997.
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the Sister City Karlovy Vary has invited delegates (
to attend the opening of the Spa; and
WHEREAS, two delegates were selected, Mayor Pro Tem Finnila and Art:
Beardsley; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the amount not to exceed $2,500 in the FY 1:
Council budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of C
follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the City Council authorizes Mayor Pro Tern Finnila and the Arts Mar travel to Karlovy Vary, the Czech Republic to attend the annual dedicatic Spring, April 29 to May 6,1997. 3. Funds are authorized to be expended towards this travel.
