ALL DEVELOPMENT PROPOSALS NEAR
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Direct staff to prepare report on appropriate mechanism for requiring City Council approval 1
future commercial development proposals in areas near the Carlsbad RanchlLEGOLAND
projects.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Mayor Lewis has requested that this item be placed on the City Council agenda for discussi
and direction to staff. The following draft motion has been prepared for City Council
consideration:
Move that the City Council ask staff to prepare a report on establishing an
overlay zone (or other appropriate mechanism) which would require all future
proposals for commercial development in the area surrounding the Carlsbad
Ranch and LEGOLAND projects to be brought before the City Council for
consideration and a final decision. The extent and boundaries of the area to
be affected would be discussed as a part of the staff report.
