RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Direct Mayor Pro Tem Finnila and staff to pursue the possibility of bringing the Mc
Exhibition to Carlsbad in the years 1999 or 2000; to establish a volunteer committc
dedicate the necessary staff resources to support the project.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Recently Council Member Finnila and Arts Manager Connie Beardsley visited the City’s
of Karlovy Vary to attend the opening and dedication of the spa season which marks the
of the tourist season in that city. An entire weekend was dedicated to these opening c
and dignitaries from around the world attended the festivities. During their visit they i
retrospective exhibit of 140 years of Moser Glass. The Moser Glass factory, which was
1867 in Karlovy Vary, designed glass pieces for the royalty and aristocracy of Europe. I:
discussions with the Moser staff indicated their willingness to have an exhibition in Carl:
Moser exhibit will give Carlsbad residents an opportunity to see some of the finest glas:
world and hopefully increase their appreciation for art.
The task of committee will be to determine how much space is needed for the exhibit, w
pieces will be included in the exhibit, what costs will be associated with bringing the
Carlsbad, (These costs might include shipping fees, insurance, security and the payment
fee for the exhibit itself.), possible sites for the exhibition and possible corporate sponsors.

Actual costs are not known at this time.
