ITEM EXPLANATION
The aerial lift truck is used to perform tree maintenance on medium to large tret

along city streets within the street tree assessment district, as well as providil
community assistance with banners, flags and the erection and decoration of tl
City Christmas tree. The aerial lift truck is scheduled for replacement in the Cit)
vehicle replacement program.
In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Bidde
was published and Requests for Bid were sent to nine vendors. Five bids we
opened on May 20, 1997, as listed below:
Miramar Truck Equipment $1 00,393.71
Altec Industries Inc 100,942.36
Simon West Coast Inc 107,654.1 0
Pressley Peterbilt 107,748.79
Dion International Trucks lnc 108,797.16
The bid from Miramar Truck Equipment did not meet specifications in regards
upper boom articulation and platform capacity. Therefore the lowest, responsi
bid was submitted by Altec Industries Inc. in the amount of $100,942.
including sales tax .

Unencumbered funds are available in the Vehicle Replacement Capital Out1

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A BID AND AUTHORIZING
THE PURCHASE OF AN AERIAL LIFT TRUCK
WHEREAS, Section 3.28.120 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code provides tt
