RECOMMENDED ACTION:

September 8, 1997 for the positions of Police Chief, Police Captain, and Police
Lieutenant.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
According to Council Policy Statement No. 36, salary increases granted to the Carlsbad
Police Officers’ Association (CPOA) will be passed through to Police Management
employees as these increases are granted to the CPOA. The terms of the current MOU
with CPOA call for a 2% general wage increase effective September 8, 1997. Therefore,
attached is the revised management salary schedule reflecting a 2% general wage increase
effective September 8, 1997, for the positions of Police Chief, Police Captain, and Police
Lieutenant.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of salary adjustments and related benefits is estimated at $1 1,500 for FY
1997/98. These funds have been included in the 1997/98 Police Department operating
budget.

RESOLUTION NO. 97-591
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A
REVISED MANAGEMENT SALARY PLAN FOR THE
POSITIONS OF POLICE CHIEF, POLICE CAPTAIN,
AND POLICE LIEUTENANT.
WHEREAS, Council Policy No. 36 specifies that salary increases granted to the
Carlsbad Police Officers' Association (CPOA) shall be passed through to Police
Management employees; and
WHEREAS, the CPOA received a 2% general wage increase effective
September 8, 1997; and
WHEREAS, funds for this salary adjustment are available and have been included
in the Police Department operating budget for Fiscal Year 1997198.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:

That the Management Salary Plan as set forth in Exhibit A, attached hereto
and made a part thereof, are hereby adopted.
