PUR AWARD OF BIDS FOR COMPUTER EQUIPMENT CITY I CITY 1 I I I RECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. 9 7 - 653 , accepting the bid propos8 Systems and En Pointe Technologies to provide new computer equipment. ITEM EXPLANATION The computer equipment included in this bid is required for two separate projects: the Sa Computer Conversion and the City’s ongoing computer equipment replacement an program. In Resolution Number 97-56, approved on February 4, 1997, the City Council autt replacement of all Apple Macintosh computers used at the Safety Center with“PC” c computers. The problems solved by the replacement were determined to include the a the effects of the severe business problems being experienced by Apple Computers, supporting two different systems, and the problems of transferring information between “I “PCs”. Approximately 55 monitors and 22 printers of various types were included in this bi Center use. The accompanying computers will be purchased directly from Comp; government contract program. The ongoing computer equipment replacement program is necessary to maintain a I efficient computing environment. Desktop computing equipment has a useful business lift five years. Funds for the Safety Center Computer Conversion were appropriated in Resolution 97-56, adopted on February 4, 1997 and are available Forfeiture Fund, the Department of Justice Block Grant, and in the General Fund in the t Fire Department and the Information Systems Department.
