Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. 99 - 3 0 5 , awarding the I: for Fire Hose for the period December 9, 1997 through December 8, 1998, w the option to renew the contract for three (3) additional one (1) year periods Allstar Fire Equipment Inc. I ITEM EXPLANATION The City of Carlsbad and seventeen (17) other agencies participated in the jo cooperative bid for various types of fire hose. Based on a questionna distributed to the agencies, an estimated quantity of 30,000 feet of fire hose L be purchased from this bid which contained nine items in four categories. T anticipated orders will result in hose purchases in excess of $70,000. Ea individual public agency will place their respective order(s) with the select vendor. In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Biddc was published and Requests for Bid were sent to ten vendors. Six respons were opened, witnessed and recorded on October 21, 1997. Representativ from San Diego County Fire Equipment Committee and the Purchasi Department evaluated the bids and made the following recommendations: All hose submitted for items for item 1 and 2 failed to meet specifications. The items will be rebid at a later date. The lowest, responsible bidder submitting a responsive bid for items 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 was Allstar Fire Equipment Company, 13450 Brooks Drive, Unit Baldwin Park, CA 91706. The vendor accepted the Public Agency Clau allowing any public agency in the State of California to participate in this aw; during the contract period. FISCAL IMPACT The City of Carlsbad's Fire Department anticipates spending approximatc $8000 for fire hose this fiscal year. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbz California, as follows: 1. That the bid from Allstar Fire Equipment Inc., 13450 Brooks Drive, Unit Baldwin Park, CA 91706 for items 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 is hereby accept1 and the Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized to execute a Purchase Ord for these items as the need arises for a period of one year beginnil December 9, 1997 through December 8, 1998 which may be renewed by tl City Manager for three (3) additional one (1) year periods. Terry is the fire equipment committee’s fire hose program manager and represents the expertise in this field of equipment for our group. He has informed me of the following recommendations for bid award. In addition he has informed me that no bidders met the specifications for Category 1, Items 1 & 2. These must be rebid and submitted separately.
