RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 99 - 720 accepting bids and awarding a contract and approp
additional funds for the College Boulevard and Aston Avenue Traffic Signal, Project No. 3522.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On October 7, 1997, the City Council approved the plans and specifications fo
College Boulevard and Aston Avenue Traffic Signal, and directed the City Clerk to adverti
construction bids. On November 20, 1987, the following four (4) sealed bids were received:
1. HMS Construction
2. DBX, Inc.
3. Lekos Electric, Inc.
4. Select Electric

.The Engineer’s Estimate for this project was $90,000. Bids for the project have been reviewe
analyzed. The lowest responsible bidder is HMS Construction at $92,993. Staff, ther
recommends the award of contract to HMS Construction.
ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE:
This project is categorically exempt from the environmental review process under the provisic
the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Section 1503, Class 1 (f) and a notic
exemption has been issued by the Planning Director on September 9, 1997.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The project cost breakdown is as follows:

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has deterr
necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to construct the College Boulevard an
Avenue Traffic Signal: and
