RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. q 8 - 3 9 accepting a $1,000 donation from the San Diego Foundati Aviara Community Fund at the recommendation of the Aviara Community Fund Committee.
ITEM EXPLANATION
In August 1997, the Aviara Community Fund Committee held a fund-raising reception h
artist J. Seward Johnson, Jr., to introduce his exhibition of life-sized bronze sculptures tl
were placed on public display throughout the Aviara development. The success of the
reception enabled the San Diego Foundation Aviara Community Fund Committee to dc
$1,000 to the City of Carlsbad Arts Ofice for the purpose of enhancing the City’s arts
programs. These donated funds will be used for Creative Arts Camps and help provide
experiences in the arts.

A RESOLUTION'OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM THE SAN DIEGO FOUNDATION AVIARA COMMUNITY FUND COMMilTEE

WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Arts Office provides "a variety of quality cultural prc
including all forms of visual and performing arts, to all Carlsbad residents"; and
WHEREAS, the San Diego Foundation Aviara Community Fund Committee is dc
$1,000 towards the arts programs of the City of 'Carlsbad; and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Arts Office has determined that these donated funds will t
towards Creative Arts Camps to provide artists and resources necessary, thus enriching ch
lives with educational experiences in the arts. . . .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEP'by the City Council of the City of Carlst
