RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Adopt Resolution No. w- 7g accepting individual financial donations, product donations and in-kind services
totaling Thirty Three Thousand, Eight Hundred and Ten ($33,810) dollars in support of the 1997 Carlsbad Triathlon.
ITEM EXPLANATION :
I%e following items, services and funds were donated to the Carlsbad Triathlon in support of the 1997 race during
the calendar year of July 1 - December 3 1, 1997. During the January meeting, the Parks and Recreation
Commission received these donations and unanimously recommended acceptance by the City Council.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Nineteen thousand, four hundred and fifty ($19,650) dollars in services were donated by various company’s to offset
service costs of the 1997 Carlsbad Triathlon and/or enhance the quality of the event. Four thousand, four hundred
and ten ($4,410) dollars in cash was collected from various company’s to financially enrich and offset costs of the
1997 Carlsbad Triathlon. Nine thousand, seven hundred and fifty ($9,750) dollars in various products were donated
to the 1997 Carlsbad Triathlon to benefit the quality of the race. As in previous years, and with the approval of
Council, the cash funds are alloted into special accounts 1495002 7550 ($2,410) and 1495002 7899 ($2,000) for use
by the Recreation Division for the Carlsbad Triathlon.

RESOLUTION NO. 98-72
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING DONATIONS OF
MERCHANDISE, SERVICE AND FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS
VALUING A TOTAL OF THIRTY THREE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED
TEN DOLLARS ($33,810) IN SUPPORT OF THE CARLSBAD
TRIATHLON.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cartsbad, California, supports the
annual Carlsbad Triathlon and Beach Festival produced by the Community Services
Department’s Recreation Division; and
WHEREAS, the annual Carlsbad Triathlon was held the weekend of July 12’
and 13’ 1997; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission has received donations of
goods, services and money totaling $33,810.
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission has recommended
acceptance of these donations by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept these donations and acknowledge
the generosity and support of community vendors and organizations who donated to
this special event.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, the following:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council does hereby accept the merchandise, services and
financial support totaling thirty three thousand eight hundred ten dollars
($33,810)
3. That $4,410 is here by appropriated to the Recreation special revenue fund.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 17th day of March , 1998, by the
following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Finnila, Nygaard, Kulchin and Hall
