PUR I I CITY I I ” I RECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. 98-92 , awarding the bid for F Hose for the period April 7, 1998 through April 6, 1999, with the option to renew t contract for three (3) additional one (1) year periods to Flameco Inc. ITEM EXPLANATION The City of Carlsbad and seventeen other agencies participated in a joint cooperati! bid for nine types of fire hose in December 1997. However, only seven of the nine typl of hose were awarded on that bid since all samples of two types failed to me specifications. The San Diego County Fire Equipment Committee revised tl specifications for the hose and new bids were mailed. Based on a questionnai distributed to the agencies, an estimated quantity of 23,000 feet of fire hose will I purchased from this bid. The anticipated orders will result in hose purchases in exce of $21,000. Each individual public agency will place their respective order(s) with t selected vendor. In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Bidders Wi published and Requests for Bid were sent to eleven vendors. Nine responses we opened, witnessed and recorded on February 19, 1998. Representatives from Si Diego County Fire Equipment Committee and the Purchasing Department evaluated tl bids and made the following recommendation: The lowest, responsible bidder submitting a responsive bid was Flameco Inc., 5542 E; LaPalma Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92807. The vendor accepted the Public Agency Clau allowing any public agency in the State of California to participate in this award duril the contract period. FISCAL IMPACT i3 The City of Carlsbad’s Fire Department anticipates spending approximately $3000 f w these types of fire hose this fiscal year. That the bid from Flameco Inc., 5542 East LaPalma Avenue, Anaheim, Cf 92807 is hereby accepted and the Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized to execute a Purchase Order for these items as the need arises for a period 01 one year beginning April 7, 1998 through April 6, 1999 which may be renewed by the City Manager for three (3) additional one (I) year periods. N. Curtis: $58.00 per length * L.N. Curtis is umhle to provide the EPDM lining as specified in section 1.4, instead etillizing a liner Eade ~f SBR ( Styrene Butadiene Rubber ) which is Iess resistant to the elements. AHstar Fire Equipment: $65.50 per length * Allstar fire is unable to provide the specified thickness as noted in section 1.5, (required thickness not less then .020 nor greater then ,030).
