RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. 9 8-1 3z , authorizing the pur
additional wetland plants for the Cannon Road West project.
iTEM EXPLANATION
The construction of Cannon Road West requires the creation of a wetland area as a r
effort. On September 9, 1997, the City of Carlsbad Purchasing Department aw:
informal bid and issued a purchase order for wetland plants for this project in the a
$24,111.86. However, in the process of obtaining permits for this road constructior
additional wetland acreage was required. This additional acreage requires the purl
more plants. Also, the frequent and heavy rains over the last few months has del;
installation of the previously purchased plants. As a result, additional storage and mail
fees must be paid for these plants. The Engineering Department has estimated an a
cost of $3,042.99 for these goods and services. These costs, combined with the origir
bring the total cost of the purchase to $27,154.85 and requires City Council apt
accordance with Section 2.28.170 of the Municipal Code. The vendor supplying the gc
services is Mockingbird Nurseries Inc., 1670 Jackson Street, Riverside CA 92504.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE ADDITIONAL
WETLAND PLANTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad requires additional wetland plants and a!
services for the Cannon Road Widening project mitigation, and;
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2.28.170 of the Municipal Code the ,
of additional plants and related services requires City Council approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of

1. The purchase of additional wetland plants and related services i:
approved, bringing the total cost to $27,154.85.
2. The Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized and directed to issue a I
